A cornerstone of Groux Arts Graphiques' sustainability initiatives has been the transition to solar power. Recognizing the environmental and economic advantages of renewable energy, they decided to install solar panels across their entire roof. This ambitious project highlights their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices within their industry. The installation of 210 solar panels, operational since May 2022 and spanning 410m2, produces approximately 96,000 kWh annually.

The five-month project proceeded smoothly, reflecting the expertise and professionalism of the Younergy teams. Currently, 65% of the electricity used by the company’s printing presses is generated by solar panels, significantly lowering their electricity costs.

According to the director M. Ducommun, the installation is expected to pay for itself within 3 years. By transitioning to solar energy, the Lausanne-based printer not only reduces its environmental impact but also sets a sustainable development model for the printing industry in the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

This strategic and visionary decision underscores their commitment to a greener planet and a more sustainable future for generations to come.

  • "From an engineering point of view, we had to pay particular attention to the orientation of the roofs and adapt the mounting types accordingly, as well as the partial shading that was compensated for by the optimizers on the affected areas."

This project presented technical challenges, requiring a more sophisticated engineering approach. Faced with a metal roof and two flat roofs, a customized design was implemented to optimally adapt the supports.

Due to shaded areas on the roofs, partial optimizers were integrated to maximize energy efficiency. This solution mitigated the impact of shading and optimized electricity production.

It was crucial to correctly connect the solar panels installed on the various roofs. Particular attention was paid to the connection and integration of the systems to ensure optimum performance and consistency in energy production.

This project illustrates our ability to take on complex challenges and provide customized solutions to meet the specific needs of our B2B customers.
